On October 9, 2015, Dr. Kanchana Kwanmuang, Deputy Secretary-General of OAE, along with Mrs. Thunphitcha Theraratchanon, Director of the 2nd Regional Office of Agricultural Economics (Director of ROAE2, Phitsanulok), and OAE staff visited Sukhothai and Tak provinces to monitor the agricultural situation.
Location 1: Village No. 9, Tha Chanuan Subdistrict, Kong Krailat District, Sukhothai Province. The visit included meetings with farmers affected by recurring floods and inquiries about the impacts on the agricultural economy, their problems, and their need for sustainable government assistance.
Location 2: Tak Special Economic Development Zone Office, 4th Floor, Asia Road (Mae Sot-Rim Moei), Mae Sot Municipality, Mae Sot District, Tak Province. The visit included monitoring the Thai-Myanmar border trade situation and the progress of infrastructure development efforts. Various environmental factors affecting trade and investment in the Mae Sot Special Economic Zone (SEZ)
Location 3: Wang Phlakon Garden, Village No. 13, Khirirat Subdistrict, Phop Phra District, Tak Province. Meeting with orchard owners to monitor the status of high-value agricultural products (GI avocados) and identify development approaches appropriate to the local context.
This information will be used to inform recommendations for the development of agricultural policies and measures consistent with the area’s future development.
