On January 13, 2026, Mrs. Thunphitcha Theraratchanon, Director of the 2nd Regional Office of Agricultural Economics (ROAE2), assigned Mr. Thanakorn Kaewcharoon, Senior Economist, along with staff from the Research and Evaluation Division, to attend the opening ceremony of a demonstration of plowing crop residue back into the soil as an alternative to burning in agricultural areas. This was part of the “No Burning Because We Care About the Soil” campaign aimed at preventing and resolving the problem of burning in agricultural areas. The event took place at Nong Kula Subdistrict Administrative Organization, Village No. 17, Nong Kula Subdistrict, Bang Rakam District, Phitsanulok Province, with Mr. Kiattisak Trongsiri, Governor of Phitsanulok Province, presiding over the opening ceremony. Many heads of government agencies under the Ministry of Agriculture and Cooperatives, district-level agencies, local administrative organizations, and farmers from the area participated in the event.
This activity was a collaborative effort between agencies under the Ministry of Agriculture and Cooperatives, with the objective of reducing the burning of crop residue and rice straw in agricultural areas. This is a major cause of air pollution and fine particulate matter (PM 2.5). The event included exhibitions disseminating knowledge and lectures for farmers on various topics such as the use of stubble and rice straw decomposers, water management, and the utilization of rice straw. Demonstration plots were also set up to compare the effectiveness of stubble and rice straw decomposers such as PD.2 and PD.17. In addition, soil sample analysis was conducted to assess soil nutrients, and agricultural inputs were distributed to farmer representatives in the area.
