From February 9-14, 2026, Mrs. Thunphitcha Theraratchanon, Director of the 2nd Regional Office of Agricultural Economics (Director of ROAE2, Phitsanulok), assigned Mr. Warit Chusakun, Director of the Research and Evaluation Division, and research staff to conduct a pilot survey, pre-test questionnaires, and coordinate data for the Nam Ki Reservoir Project in Tha Wang Pha District, Nan Province.
The Nam Ki Reservoir construction project in Nan Province is a large-scale project in the Nan River basin. Its main objectives are to enhance water management capabilities to address water shortages during the dry season and reduce the severity of floods during the rainy season. The project is a dam with a reservoir capacity of approximately 52 million cubic meters. With a total irrigation system spanning approximately 88 kilometers, the project will increase irrigated area by 35,558 rai.
A preliminary pilot survey revealed that the project area is located in Ban Wang Phang, Moo 2, Tambon Pha Thong, Amphoe Tha Wang Pha, Nan Province, covering agricultural land in several sub-districts including Tambon Pha Thong, Tambon Pha To, Tambon Saen Thong, Tambon Tha Wang Pha, Tambon Rin, Tambon Siphumi, and Tambon Tal Chum. It is estimated that approximately 6,305 households will benefit from the project, most of whom are engaged in agriculture. Key crops include rubber, coffee, rice, tobacco, second-generation animal feed corn, and livestock farming such as beef cattle. The main problems identified are water scarcity during the dry season and flooding in some areas, such as Tambon Rim and Tambon Tal Chum, which negatively impacts farmers’ yields and income.
