She was accompanied by a research team and representatives from the Department of Climate Change, representatives from the Nan Provincial Office of Natural Resources and Environment, and representatives from the Nan Provincial Office of Agriculture and Cooperatives.

This visit stems from a project underway in this area, a collaboration between the Ministry of Agriculture and Cooperatives and the Asian Development Bank (ADB), with the Asian Institute of Technology (AIT) as the project consultant. The project commenced in 2021 and is scheduled to end in 2025.

In the morning, the Director of ROAE2 participated in the following activities:

Presentation of the project’s background and the implementation at the local level by relevant agencies. – Outputs obtained from the model farmer project, which serves as a demonstration site for farmers’ adaptation to agricultural vulnerability through CSA (Climate Smart Agriculture).

In-depth interviews with model CSA farmers on solar-powered irrigation systems controlled by the Internet of Things (IoT), deep plowing across the slope to manage water flow for even distribution across the area (Keyline), bio-fertilizer production, and biochar production to improve soil structure, fertility, and the promotion of crop cultivation (cocoa and avocado) and herbal processing through essential oil extraction to generate income for farmer members of community enterprise groups in the area.

Listening to the problems, limitations, and needs of model farmers and representatives from local agencies, and offering suggestions and opinions on various aspects, especially approaches to further develop and drive integrated operations at the local level to achieve sustainable success, given the area’s specific needs. Demonstration sites for climate change adaptation have already been established.

In the afternoon, the Director of the Regional Office of Agricultural Economics 2 and his team visited and inspected the progress of three model farmer plots implementing the CSA (Community-Based Agriculture) model:

Mr. Weerasak Thaphumin’s demonstration plot: Processing of herbal aromatic products, production of biofertilizer, and biochar production for use in vegetable, coffee, and avocado crops.

Mrs. Kwanjai Khwaengriangkhwang’s demonstration plot: Implementation of a solar irrigation system controlled by IoT, deep plowing with cross-cutting to manage water flow across the slope (Keyline), production of biofertilizer, and biochar production to improve soil structure and fertility before converting the land from animal feed corn to an alternative crop (Future Crop) such as cocoa.

Mr. Niphatphon Phromphila’s demonstration plot: Implementation of a solar irrigation system controlled by IoT in a mixed fruit orchard, production of biofertilizer, and biochar production. The promotion of alternative crops (Future Crops) includes cocoa and avocado.

The results of this evaluation will be presented again in Nan Province in May 2026 to all stakeholders to inform them of the results and gather further feedback before the Department of Climate Change summarizes and disseminates the evaluation findings.

Photo/News: Public Relations Working Group, ROAE2, Phitsanulok

[50
309
post-7454","post","type-post","status-publish","format-standard","has-post-thumbnail","hentry","category-ceo-en","tag-nan
["GET
